Outside
Nature is at the very heart of the Hazelwood experience and outside you will find a poplar wood, wildflower meadow, organic kitchen garden, cutting garden and intimate courtyard garden alongside the heated outdoor pool, hot tub, a myriad of terraces and even a 1960s caravan if you are looking for a quiet moment.

You will be completely free to enjoy all of our spaces at your leisure, and regardless of the vagaries of the British weather, we are sure that you will find your own inspiring spot. If you are lucky, and depending on the season, you may encounter some of the wildlife that calls the surrounding area home - deer, butterflies, bees, owls and many species of bird. This spring we hosted a nest of swifts in the open barn, some baby moorhens on the pond, not to mention what looked like more than 50 goldfinches resting in one of our trees. We are very careful to use no chemicals either inside the house or on the land, and with every year that passes, the diversity of our little piece of Norfolk increases. We are excited to share it with our guests!

Making your stay safe

We hope that the risks of COVID are behind us. However, we would like to reassure you that we have a rigorous programme of cleaning and sanitising with lots of hand sanitiser and soap always available. We ask all guests to take a lateral flow test before arrival, and test ourselves regularly.

There is a wealth of outdoor areas to meet and eat if necessary, and in the event that the weather is unkind, our huge barn can accommodate everyone at the appropriate distance.

Pricing and Availability

We like to ensure that all our guests are thoroughly spoilt, and consequently make sure that nothing ever feels crowded or rushed. We can have a flexible capacity depending on the retreat, make-up of the group and mix of single and double room occupancy. Maximum occupancy is generally capped at 10. For specific availability, or to book for a group, please contact us directly.

We try to keep pricing as simple as possible, but inevitably costs vary a little from retreat to retreat.  More information about pricing for specific retreats and rooms can be found on our retreats page.

We can offer very special private retreats, tailored to your needs and interests, and love celebrations.  We can access a wide range of amazing local people who can offer anything from a massage, yoga class, sound bath or even a cookery class. In addition, I would be more than delighted to work with you to create a special piece using natural materials as a lasting reminder of your time at Hazelwood, or to design creative workshops around a theme or event. Please contact us for details, we would be delighted to hear from you.

All rates are fully inclusive of accommodation, use of all facilities at all times, food, drink, workshops, little extras and our full attention to ensure that you leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

Please do contact us for further details or to discuss the options.

Our Policies

Children
We love the thought of inspiring the next generation and are happy to welcome children 10 years and over, to certain retreats, whether to participate in the workshops or not. We are unable to offer childcare, but love sharing Hazelwood with children and may be able to relax the age limit in certain circumstances.

Arrival and Departure Times
You are most welcome to arrive anytime from 4pm on the Friday of each weekend retreat, please just let us know your estimated time of arrival so that we can make sure everything is ready for you. The retreat will finish by approximately 2pm on Sunday (or after brunch on Monday for 3-night retreats), so that you have ample time for the journey home. If you plan to arrive by train, we can arrange a pick-up and drop-off time for the retreat group at the nearest train station, Downham Market (roughly 40 minutes away).

Group Bookings
We love special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, hen dos, you name it, and have a wealth of experience in organising unforgettable events of any scale. If you would like to book multiple rooms, an entire weekend retreat, or just to discuss what might be possible, please do contact us.
